Slow Cooker Beef Brisket with BBQ Sauce

Want to make the most of a beautiful cut of beef? This to-die-for Beef Brisket recipe can show you how! Cooked in a succulent BBQ sauce, this slow cooker brisket is deliciously tender and infused with unbelievable flavour.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 - 2 kg beef brisket
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (or a neutral oil like vegetable, canola)
  • 1 BBQ Sauce

RUB:

  • brown sugar
  • paprika powder
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • cumin powder
  • mustard powder
  • salt
  • black pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix the ‘Rub’ ingredients together and rub over the brisket. Leave for 30mins-24 hours in the fridge to allow the flavour to intensify, however, this is not mandatory.
  2. Pour BBQ sauce over and around your brisket.
  3. Leave in your slow cooker for 8-10 hours depending on the weight. The lighter your brisket, the less time.
  4. Remove your brisket from the slow cooker and place it onto a tray.
  5. Pour the leftover liquid from your slow cooker into a saucepan. Simmer over a medium-high heat and reduce until your liquid thickens. This should leave you will a syrup-like consistency (it will thicken as it cools).
  6. In the meantime, drizzle oil over your brisket and roast in a 200C/390F oven for 15mins until you start to notice brown spots.
  7. Remove from your oven and generously baste with your sauce. Place your brisket back in the oven for 5 minutes. Remove and baste once more and return your brisket to the oven for a further 5-10mins and wait for your brisket to caramelise.
  8. To Serve: Slice your brisket and serve with a macaroni salad or coleslaw side.
